Open Access Button

The Open Access Button is a browser bookmarklet that you can use to show the global effects of research paywalls and to help get access to the research you need. Every time you hit a paywall blocking your research, click the button. Fill out a short form, add your experience to the map, and then search for access to papers.

There is also an Open Data Button currently in beta.  When a user makes a data request the app will contact the author and invite them to make their research data openly available through the Open Science Framework. Every request made through the Open Data Button will be public, with it’s status indicated.
