This guide will help you use SciFinder to find an article that describes a lab purification procedure. Students will summarize the purification procedure in their lab report. 

 

Steps for Success

1. Register for a SciFinder account

2. Sign-in to SciFinder to discover chemistry related articles and chemical information

3. Search SciFinder to find articles describing purification of an organic compound using chromatography

4. Refine results and locate full-text of articles

1. Register for SciFinder

SciFinder is a research database that provides access to research from many scientific disciplines, especially chemistry. Before using SciFinder for the first time, you need to register for an account.

 

2. Sign-in to SciFinder

 

3. Search SciFinder

Search SciFinder using the features found in 'Advanced Search'. For example, if you want to find journal articles in English, choose:
‘Document Types’ – JOURNAL
‘Languages’ – ENGLISH.

 

4. Refine Results and Find full-text
